After sustaining heavy damage we “Landed with extreme prejudice” on planet Chesztreg for repairs. Appears that the planet is a mining planet. The Dragoons essentially kicked us of the ship while they dealt with their dead and instructed us to visit the town. In the distance is a factory that is turning the sky green with polutants. We decide the local tavern is a good place to kill some time. I judge upon entrance that there is no liquid that is safe to drink. So, I order a water, drop a purification tablet into and don’t touch it.

After a few minutes, I hear my former instructor somewhere from the room. It seems irrational that he would be here. So, I decide to investigate. I see him at a table and approach to find out why he is here. Out of the corner of my eye I see LaRoche leave the bar. We can’t afford to lose her again. I follow her to the side of a young man who is balled up and rocking back and forth mutter about clowns. Laroche sits next to the man and copies his actions. I kneel in front of LaRoche and ask her how she is feeling. She says the position is very comforting and that she is glad the man next to her suggested it. Upon closer inspection, the man looks to be mentally unstable and sleep deprived. He seems very concerned about the clowns getting him. I decide to give the man some rest. I give him a shot of tranquilizer and he drops over dead. This seems to snap LaRoche out of it. She stops rocking. The tranq should not have killed him. It seems that something is in his blood. I take a sample and pull out my field kit. My instructor is suddenly at my side testing me. It seems we are all affected by mass hysteria. How to counteract it? I must take more samples.

LaRoche’s paranoia will not make her a good subject. I have a feeling I would have to tranque her to get the sample and I am afraid that would kill her. I take a sample from myself as a comparison while LaRoche tries to convince me of cows and men coming after her. At one point she tries to slit my throat, I secretly draw my taser and render her ineffective. Soon after, I sense another person approach from behind, I turn around and taser the individual. I finally am able to finish my tests and determine it to be metal poisoning. My instructor asks for the results. I give them to him and head for the Dragoon dropship. The forest wraps back to the village. Clearly, I am affected as my sense of direction is infallible.

I call over the comms to Watch. I explain to him we are all suffering from delusions. He asks if I have any way of fixing it. I explain that my full kit has what I need. but, it is in the dropship and I am unable to find my way back due to the sickness. I also tell him that I am curious as to how the taser victims will be when they awake. But, LaRoche is a difficult subject to ascertain sanity from. Wake volunteers to be a test subject. I taser him. When they awake, they do not seem better. I ask LaRoche to gather the others into the bar as she seems to be handling the situation the best (Heavens help us). I try splashing cold water on myself, no luck. I figure it has to be either airborn or auditory. I plug my ears. No luck. Airborne it is. Suddenly, I get a flash of insight. Heavy Metals. I ask the barkeep what the factory in the distance does. “Process the heavy metals”, he responds. Fantastic. there must be a breach in the filtering system. I ask the barkeep if there are oxygen masks anywhere in the town. He tells me there are at the clinic. I get directions and instruct LaRoche to gather the others and head for the clinic.

I collect oxygen masks and distribute them to the group. We all agree to shut down the factory.

I dream of Tukayyid

The hell hole promised some profit, but alas, the 19 yo I was with had no idea of the value of salt since the great desalination project. Fortunately, we were able to find the looney-tune who attacked the pilot with the spanner during all this kerfuffle. She is stored aboard the helicopter.
I’ve grabbed all the utensils I could, plus the spore, from the kitchen. My personal kit had to be sat on to close. I’ll look around and see if there is anything else of value in the kitchen.
BOOZE!
I attempted to break into the officers liquor to take that.
What I need is one of those things the medic put the kook on. Then I can take the entire liquor cabinet with us. I always say that when all else fails, you still have booze!
That was a successful effort. Now aboard the helicopter, which is stuffed with a tank? Who the hell wants a tank? It looks like hell. Shit!
And there’s the scout car too. Let’s see what is happening and what the holdup is the what the what?
The planet is under attack! What the what? Let’s get out of here!

Gade decided to head out with Dahlqvist to find the “Whomprat” that Brink shot yesterday. He seemed to believe he could use it for an ingredient for supper. I received a call on the secure line from the Mercenary company. I put St. John on the line to negotiate and went to rest in the chopper until we could lift off from the planet.

Brink called over the comms that Gade and Dahlqvist had found LaRoche and she was attacking them. We headed out in the chopper. By the time we arrived, they had “subdued” LaRoche with extreme force. I checked her over. She would have a nice knot tomorrow. But, otherwise would be fine. I strapped her into a stretcher and moved her to the chopper.

When we returned to the base, LaRoche started coming around. I informed her we had arranged transport. She started trying to leave the stretcher. I removed her knife and gun from her possession and instructed her to relax as their are some in the group who won’t hesitate to knock her out again and I wouldn’t want for her to suffer more head damage. She seems to relax for a while. That is until the commander confronted her when we arrived back at the base. She started talking about Free Rasslehoff Republic. I stealthily tranquilized her and explained to the commander that she had suffered head trauma and dehydration and was delirious. The commander was skeptical but left us in peace.

The crew went off in search of various items (alchohol, tanks, small children). I bought a 3×4×2 storage container on the tank for my purposed from Steiger. 45000 credits may be a bit pricey. But, we all had to chip in to get it off planet anyway. We manage to get loaded on the dropship just as the enemy attacked (impeccable timing once again). As we entered orbit the dropship was fired upon. A call went out for any with Gunnery skill. Having just completed my training in Gunnery I headed to the nearest gunnery bay. We manage to escape the enemy and land on planet Chesztreg for repairs.

Notes from the Free Rasalhague Liberation Front (FRLF) in Chateau
They are out to get us.

It is March 19, 3050. Some guy approaches Brink and they walk away together. (He’s one of them!)
He says they want us to go undercover to the desert on Chateau to test weapons. (They just want us out of Free Rasalhague so the alien invaders can claim more territory HERE!) I reluctantly agree to the mission and watch my desert survival guide again. I have to protect the team.
We get on a plane. I am in coach. I sleep.
We arrive and I have to reassemble the whole damn helicopter by myself. Then an alien-controlled pilot tries to take away my weapon. I hit him over the head with my weapon. The other alien-controlled mechanics hold me down. Luckily the medic is on my side, and she pretends to shoot me with the tranquilizer gun. I play along and then escape into the desert.
The alien-controlled troops, including my own team, try to track me, but I am stealthy and left my comm equipment in the med tent. The diplomat gets just 30 feet away but doesn’t see me.
The next morning, I begin walking southwest to go back toward the city we flew into while skirting around the base.
When the sun is high in the sky, I take shelter in an oasis of trees. While I’m resting, I hear a helicopter. It shoots one of the trees, destroying it. Now they want to kill me! But then the helicopter turns around and goes back.

4 Stars for Last Resort Spacelines

I’ve flown a lot of spaceliners as a first class passenger and I’ve never flown one with the excellence of service of LCS. After getting a happy ending from the steward. I ordered a drink.

Wearing the fourth of my stimpatches they had to bring in extra help to finally finish my happy ending. This was delayed by an issue among the lower end passengers.

However LCS appologized and offered an attendant from steerage area to spoon with me…

I am overwhelmed with the attention to detail and care of LCS. If only they could keep the so-called ‘business class’ quieter. Maybe they should take away all their electronics in the future.

INITIAL NOTES
Federated Commonwealth Planet Chateaux has not officially requested aid. The planet is not under attack. But, the Planetary Governor believes the planet is on the radar of the aliens. Personal Log Entry 03193049 06:00
Planetary Governor requested audience with Pilot Watch. Seems he’s been unofficially labeled as the group leader. I wonder why St. John is not better suited to the role. Pilot Watch informs us that the Governor has employed us to travel to Chateaux. He instructs us that covert operations is imperative as the Planet is under the Federated Commonwealth and has not requested aid. But, he believes the planet will be attacked by the invaders. He also informed Watch that the weapons from the salvaged mech have been stripped from the mech and the technicians could not ascertain their capabilities. the governor instructed the techs to mount the weapons on Watch’s Chopper. We are to test the weapons and keep detailed logs of the results. I am to take note of any medical advances and treat it as an intelligence gathering mission.

I’ve done some research on Chateaux and it is a desert planet with two main cities, some mining activity and spice farmers. I have requisitioned Desert environment gear.

We fly on “Only Men Fly Business and First Class” airlines. LaRoche and I are stuck in Coach. Which ends up being fortunate as Conrad was led to the back of the ship in irons. Better that we have deniability. The flight is uneventful.

Upon arrival, I head to the city while Watch and LaRoche reassemble the Chopper. I make note of the government offices and listen in to any talk of military activity. Watch calls over the comms and says the Chopper is ready. so, I head to meet them at the base. The leader does his initial assessment and sets ua on the task of running the base 3 times. I take the opportunity to get a read of the camp. On one of the breaks, I slip a micro transmitter into the seams of the Comms depot.

The second day an inter-camp olympics of sorts is scheduled. Pilot watch is recruited to participate in the flight challenge. I am recruited for the "fastest surgeon challenge. Pilot Watch wins his challenge and I prove to be superior to their best surgeon. I hope their camp does not see much combat given the performance of their “best”.

Heading back from the competition, I hear the call for a medic. I run over to the mechanics pool. I find LaRoche being restrained by some mechanics and a dazed looking pilot on the ground. The mechanics tell me “she lost her mind!” I sub-vocalize into the comm “Just play along.” I then draw my Tranq gun and feign pulling the trigger and make a “SSSST”. noise. LaRoche goes limp. I instruct the mechanics holding her to take her to the med tent and I head over to the dazed Pilot. He appears to have a concussion. I tell the mechanics I’m too small to carry the pilot. We head to the Med tent. When we get there, LaRoche and some of the water supply is gone. I radio Watch to let him know and begin to administer assistance to the pilot.

During the second night, Comms officer Conrad leaves a message saying that a blip on the alien frequency appeared overnight. But, it is no longer active. I go to him to get more info and then head to the chopper to wake Watch and inform him. He decides to prepare for the enemy. I suggest contacting the city to warn them and arrange transportation off planet once we test the weapon system. I head to the spaceport and locate a dropship scheduled to arrive. I pay the comms officer to repeat a message instructing the dropship to contact us thru a private channel when they arrive in space. I then head back to the base.

I. Mission Details/ Notes
-————————————————————————————————————————————

We arrive dirt side as command is in negoations with enemy for a cease fire. Arrive at forward base are informed of CDI’s mission parameters. Enemy broke cease fire early as attempts for peace fail. I head off to fly a few recon passes around main city when first missiles hit base. I engage mech with long range missiles. During flight I receive a priority message from Medic MacLochlon requesting pick up. Our plan is to retrieve alien damaged mech for later inspection. Chopper needs repair, alien mech hits hard. We return damaged mech to base. Get some rest and prepare for next mission.

Command calls me and Diplomat St.John and informs us that we are to proceed behind enemy lines and retrieve a missing scout, scout Dahlqvist was trapped after alerting command about on coming attack. Tanker Styger was attached to alpha squad due to the fact his tank was destroyed and alpha squad could use more fire support for this mission. On way to last known coordinates we are engaged by 2 of the enemy choppers, one is dispatched by missiles, the other required Trooper Hatter to engage from the hatch. Once in op area Medic MacLochlon takes ATV cycle out to recon area and find missing scout. I begin air cover pattern delta 2. Comms Officer Conrad is able to patch into scouts radio signal. We also pick up large search party signature. While tracking enemy search party I get message from scout requesting a diversion, I try using the outside speakers to draw their attention, does not work. So I fire missile into forest. That gets their attention. Comms informs both Scout Dahlqvist and Medic MacLochlon to proceed to extraction point. Once there I order rest of alpha squad to take up fire positions to protect incoming friend lies. A mech arrives on scene, I do what is unexpected. I fly up as close to mech as possible, make it harder to fire missiles at us. Once all friend lies are aboard I head out. Medic MacLochlon has an idea, she latching on to repelling locks and proceeds to drop on to enemy mech and places a Hull Breaching charge onto mechs pilot area. Mech is damaged, pilot is fine seems enemy mech has separate pilot compartment.

Upon return to base we see that enemy has breached our lines and are in the city, we return to city under heavy attack. Upon arrival at space port where we are informed that city is falling and we should bug out. Command of Skinner’s Scimitars is in battle allowing civi’s to fall back to space port. I inform MacKenzie that I along with any volunteers will be picking up civi’s, transporting them to space port. On last trip comm’s pick up Commands transponder informing us that his mech is down , I head to last known area and find Command is injured but alive. Upon pick up Medic MacLochlon begins first aid, as we return to space port. We noticed that some of the enemy troops are wearing uniforms of troopers from fallen planets.

Alfhild's notes from Planet Allegehe
WTF happened?

We are on Planet Allegehe.
They fired before the treaty was up.
Rene Gade saved the soup but says I don’t get any of it.
We meet Heinrich, an unlikable tank captain.
We take the chopper out.
I see a Westwind vehicle with nonstandard machine guns mounted to the side.
I shoot some bad guys, and then we escape in the chopper.
Evidently we captured a mech, and I start studying it in the chopper on the way back.
We made 75,000 credits each.
We get 110 XP.
